while you're pretty endearing in a weird way when you aren't being used as a puppet by a megalomaniac bent on destroying the world as we know it, that doesn't do much for you right about now. so this is me, going on record, saying i don't think you're sexy. i don't want your body. and i won't let you know.
what you waiting for?
well, usually i'd make a joke about waiting on my opportunity for global domination, but i feel like it would be in bad taste right about now...
Who Do You Think You Are?
your worst nightmare. :)
Are You Okay, Kiddo?
i've got coffee and pizza and my dogs and i don't have the bubonic plague. once i stuff my face, i'm gonna go out and see if i can't kick some bad guy butt. so all things considered, i'm just jim dandy, thanks for asking.
where have you been?
romania, france, italy, czech republic, germany, russia, sri lanka, thailand, hungary, all over the united states, canada and south america... most recently i've beat feet all over the city.
why bother?
because apparently half the fucking people in this city have come down with a bad case of assholeitis and that's just dumb.
what is your secret?
i never go snorkling when my aunt flo visits because i'm worried that the sharks will get me... oh. wait. that probably wasn't what you were asking. oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What is the perfect pizza?
thin crust, great sauce with just the right amount of basil, topped with buffalo mozzarella, italian sausage, mushrooms, red onions, artichoke, hot peppers, roasted garlic and ricotta cheese.
Are there any keys on your keyboard that you do not use?
i don't know about one's i don't use... i guess the f3 and f4 get neglected on the regular. what i can say with certainty is that i apparently use my a key quite a bit, considering that i've rubbed the top part of the letter clean...
What is the longest you've ever gone without sleep?
three days. three. very. long. days. i've been dealt with chronic insomia and recurring nightmares for well over a decade, but even at my worst, i still tend to drift off from exhaustion, even for short periods of time.
Describe something that happened to you for which had no explanation?
if i had answered these four days ago, i probably would have immediately recalled that time i tried to kill two of my closest friends, only to be shot and then tied up and surrounded by a group of acquaintences in what appeared to be some weird ritual. but now that all makes sense. ask again in a week and chances all i'll respond with "most of last week."
What is the most memorable class you have ever taken?
i took a class my first year in college that was a sociological and anthropological study of death and dying cross culturally. it was so interesting that i took two other classes with that professor over the course of my college career.
Have you ever been in a food fight?
more than once. at the first grillgate, a full on cupcake fight broke out. i was fervently washing red velvet and cream cheese frosting out of my hair for an hour.
What is your favorite thing to spend money on?
believe it or not, i don't actually go out and spend exorbitant amounts of money all that often. but i do have a weakness for lush and sephora and thinkgeek and cute crap on etsy and clothes and tend to not always practice impulse control... but mostly, i spend stupid amounts of money on good coffee and takeout. because otherwise i'd probably starve to death.
What is your favorite gift that cheers you up?
my ex, jameson, randomly bought me a puppy about six months ago. his name is sven and jameson trained him in russian so he only half listens to me, but he's a little snuggle bug and makes everything better when i'm otherwise down in the dumps.
what are three of your greatest weaknesses? (pizza and coffee don't count!)
this should be obvious, but lush, sephora and cute baby animals. obviously. or cupcakes, accents and kind eyes. oh, and i tend to be a sucker for a pretty face.
how excited are you for grillgate 2016?
nope. not at all. not even a little bit. what is grillgate? that sounds dumb... just kidding. of course i'm excited for grillgate. hopefully you will be, too...
if you could move anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?
i've been considering moving to tahiti for the better part of a year, but every time i think about leaving boston, something stupid happens and i'm drawn back in. see: the most recent outbreak of assholeitis, bubonic plague and animal attacks.
where'd you get that skirt? it's so vintage.

When/where did you develop your love for archery from?
i was seven the first time i picked up a bow, max or kate. i was at camp in michigan. i loved it. i loved the thwack of the arrow hitting the target, the skill, the precision. i didn't get serious about it until i was thirteen, though, and had the opportunity to shoot with my school's junior olympic archery team.
What country would you be least likely to visit and why?
i don't think there's any one place that i wouldn't visit if the opportunity presented itself. i think the fact that i spent time in madripoor should account for that.
Tell us one secret that no one else knows.
i don't think i really have any secrets that no one knows. but, i confess, that sometimes, when people are mean to me, i get even by secretly cutting the buttons off their clothes.
Do you have any scars, tattoos, or birthmarks?
i have a lot of scars and some of them are pretty ugly. but they make me who i am and thats okay. as for tattoos, i have four and i'm strongly considering getting a fifth, but i haven't made up my mind just yet. birthmarks... in the spirit of full disclosure, i have a freckle on my left nipple. you're welcome.
Which toys from your childhood have you kept?
i have a hand knitted stuffed owl my grandmother made my mom when she was a kid that my mom passed down to me. i've kept it all my life and now it sits in a trunk at the foot of my bed, a little bit worse for wear, but safe and sound for when i need it.
Where and how were you educated?
amherst college, class of 2011, summa cum laude, major in physics, minor in astronomy. i was accepted to graduate school at m.i.t., but i was rigerously training for the 2012 olympics at the time and opted not to go. which is perfectly fine by me.
What does your desk or workspace look like? Small and cramped, huge and expansive, covered in drifts of books and papers?, neatly ordered and clean?
it's a fucking mess at least eighty percent of the time. it's pretty big but it's always covered in stacks of papers, meeting notes, doodles, coffee cups, snacks, scale models, gadgets, dodads and other miscellaneous crap.
