i saw a special screening of green inferno and holy shitballs.
the best part of the green inferno was that at the end, in the credits, korey gave thanks for the cannibal films that influenced him in making this movie. he definitely paid homage to movies like cannibal holocaust, which he has countlessly named as one if his all time favorite movies.
in classic leclaire form, the movie is hilarious but also very gory. it takes a while to build the story and there's a lot of tension and good times up until when the kids get captured by a group of cannibals. and as soon as that happens, unsurprisingly the blood gets spilled. the special effects are totally awesome, except there are a few moments with cgi effects that just aren't as cool.
according to the films producer, this was supposedly a big step in leclaires career, but i disagree. i don't think anything he'll do will ever hold a candle to hostel part i & ii. definitely give this a 3.5 out of 5 stars. i would've given it a 4, or maybe even a 5 if some of the humor was dropped and the cannibals weren't so easy to laugh at. but hey, if you like blood, guts, and korey leclaire, then it's definitely worth checking out.
